As components

Alpine gives you several options for mounting the component 1" Teteron dome tweeters, including brackets to use your JK's tombstone-style locations if you have them. Inline crossovers make installation tidier as well.

As coaxials

If you have rear locations that don't make a component configuration feasible, use Alpine's included brackets to mount the tweeters onto the woofers in a coaxial design.

Features

Overview: Alpine's SPV-65X-WRA component speakers are designed for 2007-2018 Jeep Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited models (JK body style). They fit both the dash and soundbar locations, when factory equipped.

Note: In 2018 Jeep built two versions of the Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited, the JK (older body style) and the JL (new body style). These Alpine speakers fit the JK body; they do not fit the new JL body.

Wiring: The Alpine woofers have the same input plug as the Jeep factory woofers, so the factory harness is directly compatible. The Alpine tweeters plug into the outputs of the included in-line tweeter crossovers. The crossovers have two inputs (shorted together), one terminated with the 2007-2014 Jeep factory tweeter harness, the other terminated with the 2015-2018 Jeep factory tweeter harness. The woofers also have a 5" output wire labeled 2007-2014 models. This wire is only used when coaxially mounting the tweeters in the soundbar. (The tweeter mounts separately in the soundbar location of 2015-2018 models.) No cutting into the factory wiring is required.

Tweeter Level: The crossovers have two tweeter level output options, 0 dB (flat) and +3 dB. Connect the tweeter the the wire labeled with your preference.

Mounting: In both the dash and soundbar locations the Alpine woofers are direct replacements for the factory woofers; no modification or adapter bracket is necessary. The factory screws are used to mount the new woofers. Tweeter mounting varies based on Jeep model year and the mounting location:

  • 2007-2014:
    • Dash: The Alpine tweeters snap into the factory "Tombstone" housing.
    • Soundbar: The Alpine tweeters are mounted coaxially to the Alpine woofers, using the included bridge mount brackets.
  • 2015-2018:
    • Dash: The Alpine tweeters snap into the included flush mount tweeter plates, and are mounted behind the factory grilles.
    • Soundbar: The Alpine tweeters snap into the included flush mount tweeter plates, and are mounted behind the factory grilles.

Customer Q&A

Q
I was told if you already have the premium alpine stereo in a 2013 jeep wrangler, you have to reverse the polarity when connecting these speakers. But not if you have the base factory stereo. Can anyone confirm? I've had zero luck finding wiring schematics for the premium alpine stereo for the 2013/2014 wranglers, but many online forums suggest the polarity is indeed reversed.

Q
How can I find the tweeters on these? I need replacements
apolinar  Nov 25, 2021
1 answer
A
There are two ways these are mounted: 1) the tweeter mounts in the center of the larger speaker; or 2) the tweeter is mounted in a different place (like on the dashboard, next to the "A pillar"). Since you're not finding the tweeters mounted with in the center, then it probably means you're looking at the speakers mounted in the front, and the tweeters should be in their own housing mounted on top of the dashboard.

Q
Do these speakers work well with the factory alpine amp?

A
My system was set up with the Alpine KTA-450 Power Pack and it sounds fantastic! If you're referring to the alpine amp provided with the Jeep's premium sound option, I don't know. I am very happy with these speakers.
andrew  Aug 30, 2021
A
Yes they do. Very good speakers. However, do not under any circumstance buy the Alpine Wilx 650 head unit!! Its a total POS!!!!!!!!!!

Q
Are these Alpine "S" series?
daniel  Aug 26, 2020

A
No they are different than the S series. These use a higher-end Teteron tweeter, compared to the silk in the S series, along with the vehicle specific mounting gear.

Hello, i'm not sure about what series they are. but they do sound awesome. they are specific to the Wrangler. i have two sets. component style in the dash and coaxial style in the roll bar.
thomas  Sep 09, 2020
A
I believe that they are S series,, we have 4 of them in our 2011 Jeep Wrangler,,,, they are awesome!!!!

Q
Are these the same water resistant speakers in the 2017 Jk 4 door factory Alpine premium upgrade?
bobby  Jul 17, 2020

A
Doing the research I found that they are the same speakers.
gregory  Jul 17, 2020
A
No I think they are a better quality. Love them in my jk
michael  Jul 17, 2020
A
I had the factory alpine system and put these in and I could tell I difference. They are a lot more clean, but not very much bass.
josh  Jul 17, 2020
Q
How much of an upgrade this is compared to the factory speaker on JK 2 door?
ssani  Apr 14, 2020

A
a ton better than factory along with an amplifier you will definitely like the upgrade
james  Apr 21, 2020
A
1000 times better but I'm also running an alpine 5 channel amp with crossover through the factory head unit. I added 4 new speakers and a bass bin
gregory  Apr 21, 2020
A
All around better sound. Highs are crisper, and bass is quite noticeable. I put them in the dash of my 4 door jk.
erick  Apr 20, 2020
A
Very big difference am I have not changed the head unit or put an amplifier on them yet
billy  Apr 20, 2020
A
I think it'd be very good for several reasons: 1) because these are waterproof so if you ever get caught with your top down and it rains. 2) You need to put an Amp to these and they'll deliver great all-around music that you'll here easily with no top or doors! You can crank them up with no cracking or distortion! Good luck
lucas  Apr 20, 2020
A
It's a significant improvement. I also put them in the roll bar enclosure for more uniform coverage. Great sound when it's buttoned up or stripped down.
jason  Apr 20, 2020
A
I heard a tremendous difference
michael  Apr 20, 2020
Q
What's the difference between the 0db TW level and the +3db TW level for the tweeter crossover?
corey  Feb 18, 2019
1 answer
A
+3 dB is louder and 0db is standard setting depending on where you have your tweeters and if they sound good to you. You have to listen to them to see what you like.
