About the PAC SWI-ADAPT Steering Wheel Control Input Adapter

Bob Bihlmayer

Convenient connection

PAC's SWI-ADAPT input adapter lets you connect a PAC steering wheel control adapter (sold separately) or any other PAC wiring interface equipped with a 3.5mm connector to a car stereo with a two-wire resistive steering wheel input connection. The SWI-ADAPT eliminates the need to cut or otherwise alter the SWC adapter's output plug and preserves the integrity of the adapter's wiring, when installing car stereos from Panasonic, Android, Soundstream, Boss, Planet Audio, Pumpkin, or other brands. Warranty: 1 year.

Product Research

Features

Two-Wire Resistive SWC Adapter: The SWI-ADAPT is used in conjunction with a PAC steering wheel control interface (such as the SWI-CP2, sold separately) and select radio replacement interfaces (sold separately) to allow for connection to select aftermarket in-dash head units that require two steering wheel control input wires (usually labeled as "Key 1" and "Key 2", or "SW 1" and "SW 2"). Compatible radios with two-wire steering wheel controls include Boss, Soundstream, and Panasonic.

Connections: The PAC SWI-ADAPT is equipped with a 3.5mm jack and includes a 5-wire harness.

  • 3.5mm Jack: Connect the 3.5mm connector of your PAC's steering wheel interface module or radio replacement interface module (the Blue/Yellow wire from the PAC interface will not be used).
  • Red Wire: Connect to +12 volt accessory switch.
  • Black Wire: Ground to metal chassis of vehicle.
  • Brown Wire: Connect to aftermarket radio's "SW 1" or "Key 1" wire.
  • White Wire: Connect to aftermarket radio's "SW 2" or "Key 2" wire.
  • Light Green Wire: Cut light green wire loop and insulate the wires if installing a Panasonic radio.

Q
Will this work for my 2013 F150 stx to make my steering wheel controls work with my android stereo?
timothy  Jul 06, 2022
1 answer
A
We won't be able to guarantee function with radios we don't sell sadly, Timothy. What we CAN confirm is that if you are using this PAC RP4-FD11 wiring interface I've linked below to install your Android radio in your sweet STX, you can use this PAC SWI-ADAPT so the RP4-FD11 can read the controls from the Android radio. This PAC SWI-ADAPT is the go to move for whenever the radio you are using supports steering wheel controls, but isn't recognized by the RP4-FD11 integration harness. https://www.crutchfield.com/p_541RP4FD11/PAC-RP4-FD11-Wiring-Interface.html

Q
Does this work with a pioneer avh-221ex?
riley  Mar 13, 2022

A
The ability to retain steering wheel controls with aftermarket receivers will be determined by the receiver you are using and the vehicle you have. For full information on this type of integration (including the parts you will need) please contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat.

Yes, if you already have steering wheel controls and installing aftermarket stereo
john  Jun 01, 2021
A
I don't think the car matters as long as it has steering wheel controls (+volume - Volume) depends on radio you are using. Worked great for my 2009 Denali with after market android stereo.

You will want to contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat to discuss compatibility with your factory system. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and see if this will integrate. If it does not, then they will also be able to discuss other options with you.

Yes, if your vehicle has factory steering wheel controls.

Q
Is this will work in a 2011 GMC Acadia?
roy  Aug 22, 2019
1 answer
A
It might - that part needs to be used with a PAC steering wheel control module and a radio that does not accept a 3.5mm SWC input. Do you already have an aftermarket radio installed in that Acadia? Do you already have a PAC steering wheel interface?

Q
Will this item work on a 2005 honda pilot with a boss radio?
carl  Jun 22, 2019
1 answer
A
Maybe. That piece is just an adapter so you would still need a PAC steering wheel interface to work with it. I would also need to know what model Boss radio you have as many do not support steering wheel controls. If you have any other questions about compatibility you can connect with one of our friendly product advisors here: https://bit.ly/2QNxGQB
