About the PAC VS41 Camera Switcher

Alexander H.

Your video brain

If you're going big on aftermarket driver-assistance integration, PAC's VS41 camera switcher is your new best friend. This switcher lets you integrate up to four cameras in your vehicle, using a video receiver as a monitor. The best part is that PAC allows for automated switching — when you use your turn signals, the corresponding side camera engages and when you shift into reverse, the backup cam overrides any active video feed to give you a view of what's behind you.

Product highlights:

  • 4-way video switcher for front, side, and backup camera integration
  • four video inputs and one video output for use with select factory and aftermarket receivers
  • backup cam prioritization
  • turn signals trigger side camera activation
  • warranty: 1 year
  • MFR # VS41

What's in the box:

  • Intelligent 4 camera switcher
  • Harness
  • Installation Instructions

Product Research

Features

Intelligent 4 Camera Switcher: The VS41 is an intelligent 4 camera switcher for controlling front, rear, and blind spot cameras. It features four camera inputs (front, left and right side, and rear) and one video output for connecting to a factory or aftermarket radio with a video display. The VS41 can manually connect to cameras and trigger wires with analog and constant pulsed signals. It also can be plugged in directly to a compatible PAC RP4.2 or RP5.2 interface module's expansion port for full digital control, and fast easy connectivity.

Reverse and Turn-Signal Triggers: The PAC VS41's inputs are triggered by driver behavior with the rear back-up inputs automatically activated when the vehicle is shifted into reverse and side inputs prompted by the turn signals. The VS41 provides a reverse camera output trigger for aftermarket radios and offers priority override for the backup camera signal. The VS41 also connects directly to the analog turn-signal circuit with flash eliminating signal buffer for uninterrupted side camera activation.

Q
I'd like to have my rear camera turn on while using the turn signals. How would I wire this to do so?
dale  Mar 13, 2023

A
Greetings Dale, and thank you for your question. Each camera input has its own trigger. What you would need to find out is where and what color wire triggers your turn signals in your vehicle. A copy of the install guide in on our website, but it has no vehicle specific information.

Q
I have a BCI-CH21 already installed on my 2018 Jeep JK and understand this needs to be added for a multi-camera setup. My question is on local video storage (SDHD or card). Is it possible, should I use different switcher, how can it be done?
daryl  Mar 07, 2023

A
Greetings Daryl, and thank you for your question. Neither your BCI-CH21, or this PAC camera switcher has the capabilities for recording. Crutchfield would not have anything that could go between the two to add recording, but there might be a company that that makes a device that has composite in and out to go between the two that can record. I would not know where you could acquire it.

Q
What cameras work with this switch? I'm looking to use this for a side camera option

A
Most aftermarket universal cameras with a composite video connection will work with this switcher. We carry many compatible options. For help with selecting the best camera for your specific needs, please reach out to our advisors via online chat or phone at 1-800-324-9695.

Q
i would like to add a front camera to my 2022 honda pilot. would this be the correct interface for my vehicle?
michael  Jun 13, 2022
1 answer
A
Greetings Michael, and thank you for your question. The PAC VS41 camera switcher is a universal add on switch with triggers for up to 4 camera including a front camera, however it is not specific to any one vehicle. It terminates to the radio display with a composite (RCA) video connector which factory radios seldom have. Its not a great option for your 2022 Pilot's factory radio. At the moment we have nothing to add a front camera to your vehicle. Possibly Honda may have something for you.

Q
Why would I need this item whenever my brand new Kenwood DNR1007XR head unit has 4 video inputs as a feature? Also my head unit is being paired with a Maestro RR2. Does the maestro rr2 not include the turn signal and the backup camera priority with the setup in the head unit menu ?? 2015 Chevy Cruz using 3 Kenwood CMOS-32 cameras and a Kenwood dash cam.

Q
I have a 2020 Ram 2500 that has a factory 12.4 Uconnect screen and factory backup camera. I am looking for a solution to install front and side cameras that can be viewed on the cars Uconnect screen. Is there a way to make this item work with the factory Uconnect?

A
You will want to contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat to discuss compatibility with your factory system. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and see if this will integrate. If it does not, then they will also be able to discuss other options with you.

Q
I have a Stinger Heigh10 for my Jeep Wrangler and it came with a wiring harness for three cameras and then a backup camera on another harness. Is there an advantage this this camera switcher over Stingers included harness?

Hi & I Wish that I could answer your question but I purchased this because Best Buy suggested it to go along with the New Stereo System & all 4 Cameras they were installing for me in my car which is a 2009 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder. Not sure that it matters with this kit but my car has hand controls on the back of the steering wheel & this makes it so Both my Blind Spot Side Mount Cameras Automatically come on when I put either of my Turn Signals on. It Works properly but has about a 3-5 second delay for Both Displaying On the screen once the Turn Signal is On & for Disappearing Off the screen once the Turn Signal is Off. I Hope that all makes Sense & that it is Helpful in some way! Wishing you the Best with whichever way you go with your system & God Bless You!

Q
What would I have to do to set up the 4 cameras with full-time recording, as dash cams with multiple views?
doug  Sep 10, 2021
1 answer
A
This is a camera switcher and does not allow 4 cameras to be viewed at the same time. It has triggers to switch between then only allowing one camera's video to be passed through. I recommend contacting an advisor by calling 1-800-324-9695 to check if we offer gear to record video from 12V cameras

Q
will this allow me to connect my factory back up camera to Kenwood ddx9905s?
clyde  Jan 24, 2021
1 answer
A
This part does not adapt factory backup camera wiring so it can work with aftermarket radios like that Kenwood model. We may have a part that can and recommend contacting an advisor by calling 1-800-324-9695 to check your vehicle

We have not received any answers from other customers on your question. I would recommend reaching out to an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They should be able to help answer your question.
