App control

The Ultimate Ears BOOM & MEGABOOM app gives you lots of options for your speaker. In the aptly named #PartyUp mode, you can stream simultaneously to up to 150 compatible Ultimate Ear speakers. Party up indeed!

You can also simultaneously pair two devices, so you and a friend can co-DJ. The app lets you adjust your speaker's EQ settings. Even use it as your wake-up alarm with tunes from Pandora® or Spotify® Premium.

Features

Bluetooth Audio Streaming: The UE MegaBoom 3 offers supports for Bluetooth audio streaming. You'll be able to wirelessly stream stored music, music apps, and other audio content on your Bluetooth-enabled device to the UE Boom 3. You can even control basic playback functions such a Play/Pause and Previous/Next Track from the UE MegaBoom 3 speaker. It offers a wireless range of up to 150' (45m). You can pair up to 8 Bluetooth enabled devices and keep two devices connected at the same time to the UE MegaBoom 3.

Note: The UE MegaBoom 3 does not offer support for Bluetooth hands-free phone communication for making and answering phone calls.

Rugged Two-Tone Fabric: The UE MegaBoom 3 is covered in a two-tone fabric that is tough and beautiful. Engineered from materials used in motorcycle jackets and fire equipment, this rugged textile fabric is built for extremes conditions. A custom dying process is used to give the fabric a two tone look. There is a small sewn-in loop strap that can accommodate a carabiner clip (sold separately).

Waterproof & Floats: The UE MegaBoom 3 is built tough and through more than 25 rigorous durability tests; including 1000s of button pushes, tumbles, drop tests and more. Its water, dust, and drop proof with a IP67 rating. It can be totally submerged in 3.3' (1m) of water for up to 30 minutes. It even floats. So when you drop it into the pool, it will float back up to the surface.

Note: Always thoroughly rinse and dry the speaker, microUSB port, and charging ring with fresh water after using it in a swimming pool or the ocean. While the speaker is waterproof, the chemicals and salt in your pool or the ocean can damage the waterproof seals over time if not rinsed off after use.

Spatial 360° Sound: The UE MegaBoom 3 Bluetooth speaker features two 2" full-range drivers and dual 2" x 3" passive radiators wrapped around the speaker enclosure for immersive, stereophonic sound in all directions. The speaker utilizes Digital Signal Processing (DSP) to carefully balance audio at all volume levels and preserve as much of the dynamic range as possible, so your music can be loud and still sound clean and full of detail.

Ultimate Ears Boom & MegaBoom App: The Ultimate Ears Boom & MegaBoom App (for Apple iOS 10.3+ and Android OS 5.0+) provides enhanced features for the UE MegaBoom 3 speaker. Use the app for features like Remote On/Off, One-Touch Play, Customizable EQ, Block Party, PartyUp, Musical Alarm, and Firmware Updates.

Remote On/Off: You can power the UE MegaBoom 3 Bluetooth speaker on or off through the Ultimate Ears Boom & MegaBoom app.

Will this speaker pair with a Yamaha r-n303 receiver?

Yes, the Yamaha R-N303 can does offer Bluetooth transmission out to most any Bluetooth headphone or speaker. To use this feature, the receiver must be connected to your home network and you will need to use MusicCast Controller app on your Apple iOS or Android device to configure the receiver as a Bluetooth transmitter. Can anyone offer their experience with using these speakers as a stereo pair with Bluetooth and the MEGABOOM app? Specifically looking for Android user experience. I have a pair of JBL Pulse 3 which can supposedly do this but the JBL Connect App is pathetic when used with Andriod devices, almost never get successful stereo pairing. I can almost always make stereo pairing work with my Apple devices but get poor playback results (dropouts, jitter, etc) after a brief period of clean playback.

Spent 1 1/2 hours on the phone with Crutchfeld this morning trying to pair them up, unsuccessfully. The guy helping me on the project decided one of them was malfunctioning and sent me a shipping label send it back. They are sending out s new speaker. I have an I-Phone. It recognized two speakers line with Bluetooth. It simply could not get the second speaker to sign on. The one speaker that hooked up sounds good, no dropout or jitter. However, I wanna pair that can work in Stereo also. We shall see what happens with the new speaker.

My megaboom speakers are mono speakers and have no provision to change to a left / right speaker when two are used together. So if you are asking if I have used two megaboom speakers as true steroids speakers I have not. I do have a megaboom 3 and UE megaboom speaker and occasionally play them as a pair and do not have issue when I do.

The Megaboom 3 has spectacular sound and I'm really enjoying it. I can't answer the question as this is the first megaboom I've owned. The 3 is worth the money spent.

I have old one and I just brought the latest one. They both still sound great and the new mega boom seems to sound better. I have paired them together and wow they broke the sound barrier.

I have both. In terms of sound there are almost identical with the 3 heading a bit more towards clarity and the original more to bass. I like the hook tonput it hanging on the 3 better. The original has a hook on the underside. One advantage of the original is that it has a plug to connect a 1/8" cable which I use in my projector for outdoor movie night. The 3 is strictly bluetooth.

I have no knowledge of the original mega boom. The sound is crisp on the mega boom 3. The bass is so so. It works for me for what I am using it for.

I only upgraded because I lost my original megaboom. If you still have the original megaboom, stick to it. I feel the original was a bit louder, but megaboom3 has a bit more bass imo. The app could use a refresh, currently on android phone and do not have deezer account. I just have Amazon Music, Spotify, and Pandora.
