Very nice sub, does not disappoint.
Thomas from DENTON, TX on 6/26/2025
Kind of on the pricier side for a relatively small 8" subwoofer, but the sound it adds to the B&W 607 S3 bookshelf speakers is fantastic. Build quality also seems to be top-tier. So, maybe, you get what you pay for. Tucks away nicely out of sight behind our entertainment center, but the bass is strong and can rattle the floors if you desire (I don't).
Pros: Solid thick bass, great build quality, nice looking, feels premium.
Cons: A bit on the expensive side for an 8" sub.

Petit Boom

This is replacing an older, budget Sony 8" sub on my bookshelf system (Technics SB-C600s). I'm still deciding on whether it's a significant upgrade beyond price point. I do feel like it has slightly more definition and tightness than the Sony. Although, it seems much quieter--I find I have to almost max the input gain to get it to match the level of the Technics, and it carries less lower frequency information (than the Sony) albeit with greater clarity. Perhaps that will change over time with use? Also, maybe an 8" sub is not the best choice for improving system bass over a 10" or 12", but it fits well into this layout. It also seems to have revealed a gnarly ground loop present in my system. The Sony did not shine light on it, but the B&W is making me have to track down the culprit(s). So, probably an improvement, but we're getting to know each other while I sort out my noises.
Pros: Compact size, sound quality, name, connectivity, abundant controls/adjustments
Cons: Lower volume, ground sensitivity, price

This subwoofer is built well and pairs nicely with my 606s, delivering the expected low-end fill. However, I wish the speaker grill was square and magnetic like the others. In hindsight, I should have gone for the 10" driver, but overall, I'm satisfied with its performance.

Wow. My new system was great without the subwoofer but now it is incredible. The subwoofer took the heavy load off my B & W speakers and allowed them to perform to their full potential. The volume dial behind the subwoofer can be adjusted depending on the type of music is playing. One again, the Crutchfield advisors did a fantastic job with their recommendation.

Nice kicker.
Jerry from Garden City, MI on 10/13/2022
Replacing an old, big box, ported, passive sub. Running it with my new 606's. This guy easily fills my living and dining rooms. Instructions say to set the volume to 9 o'clock, but I had to nudge it down just a bit. It carries into the back bedrooms and basement. Was thinking about doing what they recommend, by picking up a second one and dedicating them each to a channel. But this one isn't even dialed up, and the 606's kick pretty well on their own. I will save the money for new cellular shades for the two rooms. Placement really does make a difference. Corner behind the left speaker made it boomy. In front of the stand it still had some boom. Re-aimed toward the center of the room made it better. Still want to shift it around to find a sweeter spot where I might be able to increase volume a touch. Maybe behind the couch, aimed toward the hallway. The couch divides the living room from the dining room.
Pros: It is a very nice sound in a small box.
Cons: Price is a hundred or so too high.

Finally, a sub I want to listen to
Crutchfield customer from Meadow Vista, CA on 1/20/2022
Great little versatile sub. I was looking for a sub for a 2.1 system, needing control as to avoid boomy, muddy lows and at a decent price point. The staff at Crutchfield were spot on with their recommendation for this sub when I explained my requirements. I pairs nicely with my Vienna Acoustic bookshelves.
Pros: Small, acoustic suspension cab, enough controls for most applications.
Cons: None as of yet.

Boom, Boom, Boom, Boom-Boom
Jon from STERLING, VA on 6/26/2021
Chose the B&W ASW608 to pair with B&W 606 S2 Anniversary Edition speakers. While you can't ignore the overwhelmingly positive reviews of the SVS Sub-woofers, I bet they sound great, I'm a fan of integrated components and put my trust in the B&W. My Home Office/Music Room is modest in size: 12' 5" by 14' but I've carpeting, drapes, an arm chair and book cases to diffuse the sound. That said, since adding the Sub to complement the Bookshelf Speakers I've had to experiment with placement of the speakers (presently +12" from the wall) and Bass Extension and EQ on the ASW608. I've experimented with the Low Pass Freq and Volume (Line) Level but they always seemed to find their way back to the recommended settings. At lower volumes, during working hours, this set-up works well for me. After hours the volume gets turned up and I back up further in the office to enjoy. I'm running the Sub-woofer from a 10' RCA cable run from the Pre-Out of a Rotel A14 with Low Pass Filter 'In' on the ASW608. The bass is tight and well articulated, not flabby. I've only bottomed out the sound when turning the Volume (Line) Level up too hight. It's a very satisfying listening experience.
Pros: Sound, Build Quality, Responsiveness
Cons: Efficiency - could use more power

This sub is great for its size, but compared to other subs in this price range it doesn't compete. I ran this side by side with the SVS SB1000, and SVS was noticeably better. If you need something compact, then this could be a good option.

I like my bass tight.
Crutchfield customer from Kissimmee, FL on 8/26/2020
This sub is great. Very tight lows for it's size you can't ask for much more. I have B&W 706 s2's and it took me a while to make a choice for the sub and unless you want to vibrate the neighbors I see no need to go bigger. Very happy

glorious sub, wonderful match with the Bower & Wilkens 607s
Crutchfield customer from Austin, TX on 7/5/2020
I got this to go with Bower & Wilkens 607 bi-amp capable bookshelf speakers, and a Marantz receiver/cd/wireless streaming hub bookshelf combo that has bi-amp capacity, and set it all up that bi-amped way. I LOVE the combo. Current settings on the sub as paired with those speakers, in case it helps anyone: the 607s have lower frequency response of 52Hz, so the sub's crossover point is set to 60Hz, the low-pass filter is set to In. The bass extension is set to B, the EQ switch to A, and the phase to 0 degrees. I asked the kind engineers at Bowers & Wilkens for settings advice, and that was their suggestion for what to start with when the sub is paired with the 607s. The RCA runs from the SubOut on the receiver to the Line In L on the sub. It sounds fantastic, so I will probably stick with those settings.
Pros: small size, big delivery
Cons: none that I can tell so far

Big Improvement to Overall Sound!
charles from North Attleboro,MA on 3/28/2020
Excellent subwoofer for the price! My B&W 805'S needed help on the low end, and now with the ASW608 the sound is balanced and fuller. The room the stereo system is set up in is on the smaller size which fits the ASW608 perfect. Very big improvement to the overall sound. Also, I received excellent advice on the setup of the sub by Crutchfield's tech support. Could not be happier with the purchase.

Suits my needs perfectly. Great compliment to my B&W 640i speakers. Rounds out the lower end of my music. Ii don't know how it would be for home theater but works extremely well for music. If set up properly it can be considered "wife friendly". Its is an excellent value.
Pros: Seamless integration with my speakers. Reasonably priced.
Cons: None that I have encountered
