Extend the range of your iDatastart remote start system

The kit includes an antenna/receiver that plugs into your iDatastart module via the included harness, along with two 5-button remote transmitters, so you've got a spare if you lose the first. Product Research

Features

Overview: The ADS transmitter kit provides 2-way communication for activating you iDatastart HCX remote start module (sold separately). This 5-button remote system uses FM technology for up to 3000 feet of transmitting/receiving range.

Functions: The RF2352A remote features 4 main buttons along the front panel, which are pre-programmed for Lock/Arm, Unlock/Disarm, Trunk/Hatch Release, engine Start/Stop, and a 5th Function button (F) on the side of the remote that's used for multi-button functions. Each of the 4 main buttons includes it's own LED along with a single LED at the top of the remote. The top LED will light to confirm when any button is pressed and the individual function LED will light afterwards to confirm that that command was performed. The remotes can be programmed for up to 30 functions, all accessed using combinations of the 5 buttons. Additional features include; Valet Mode, Panic, Silent Lock/Unlock, Passive Lock&Arm, Ignition Lock, Extended Runtime, Turbo Mode (allows engine to cool down before shutting engine off), and more.

Antenna: Included with the RF2352A remote controls is a 3-1/4" long-range antenna for achieving a maximum transmit/receive range of up to 3000 feet. The antenna features an adhesive backing, for mounting it high up on a dash or console, and a 98" cord that plugs directly into the iDatastart module. Two LEDs and a small push-button on the antenna are used to program additional or replacement remote controls. Up to 4 remotes can be programmed to the iDatastart module.

Owner's Card: Operating instructions for the RF2352A remotes can be accessed via the included Owner's Card. This features a QR code that can be scanned with a smartphone or tablet and will pull up the online instruction manual.

Q
Whats the difference between one and two way remote?
robert  Aug 02, 2021

A
A one way remote system will provide no feedback at the remote. When using bbn it your only way of knowing the command was received and the vehicle has started will be to look out the window and observe the vehicle lights are lit and steam rising from the tail pipe. With the 2 way when the command is received by the system and the vehicle is started you will have either an LED OR AN LCD display on the remote giving you the feedback. So a 2 way remote system is bi directional and both send AND receives data.

A two way sends the signal two ways. One to the car and one back to the remote. The remote will beep letting u know the car has received the signal and has started. A one way only sends the signal to the car and u hope it received it and hope the car started. The two way you will know if it's started

Q
Does it work with a stick shift?
themarine24  Jan 04, 2021

A
Installing remote starts in manual transmissions is not recommended and is unsafe. Any reputable shop such as mine will not install them in vehicles with a manual transmission.

Q
is installation difficult?
ritchie  Dec 15, 2020
1 answer
A
I would say it can be challenging for people not experienced with automotive electronics and repairs. You will need the tools required to the disassemble the vehicle components in order to install the system, and add the required wiring that is optional or separate from the pre-wired harnesses. Additionally you will need to create an account with the company to access and install the firmware for your vehicle. I ran into complications when programming some features of the system, but one call to Crutchfield resulted with an expert on the phone with me step by step until I was finished. Absolutely all further purchases will be from Crutchfield in the future, hands down the best customer service I have ever experienced. I am a certified automotive tech and I still needed some help with it, but am very happy with the system features and functionality.

Q
Can this remote replace the smart key for starting and driving the car?

Enter an answerNo. Start and lock/unlock. Extended range was well worth getting. to this question.

My 2011 Toyota 4-R has a regular key with a chip in it and an attached FOB, I added this kit to increase the range of my remote start system , I assume you are referring to a keyless push button start that has a proximity sensor? I don't believe that is what this remote is designed for and don't remember anything in the programming that would indicate that functionality.
