It is a solution for cars that don't have the room. It fits under the passenger seat on the car I just bought, but just doesn't compare to having a separate amp and sub. For me it lacks that drum punch and sounds too boomy (if that's a word) I tried all the adjustments possible and I just had to lower the gain and bass boost on the unit and adjust the bass boost on the remote level as needed. Don't get me wrong, it sounds good, but not as good as I expected

Terrible Tech Support

Sub seemed really solid, but Crutchfield's lackluster tech support really made this a terrible experience. Tried 4 or 5 times to get a clear answer on how to tap wires for the speakers, but was given extremely generic and vague responses. Emailed one last time Saturday and someone just replied today, Tuesday. And again, no helpful information. Just a printout that I received on a prior speaker purchase. In all my years dealing with Crutchfield this is the worst experience I've ever had. Returned for refund. Looking elsewhere for future audio needs.

Great sound and great value

Sound quality is excellent, especially for the very reasonable price. Installation in a 4-door 2022 Ford Bronco (non-B&O) was very easy. However, it did not fit completely in my original desired location under the front seat but was easily relocated under the rear bench seat. Only critique is that the ground wire and speaker wires were too short to reach the farther speaker to tap into when installed to one side of the truck, though they were easily spliced and extended. 4 and a half stars!

Much needed Bass for a smaller space

Plenty of bump coming from this unit. I have this stuffed under the bench seat of my 90's Toyota Pickup and it provides way more sub than most need for a single cab. Really adds the music feel you lack with door speakers without having to take up storage. Easy to install in terms of wiring (car dependent of course). Everything you need is included except for a few more wire connectors and RCA adapters if you're going aftermarket radio. My only complaint would be the size. It is quite limiting finding ~13" of space in older or smaller vehicles. This is my second powered Sub/under seat unit. I have the JBL Nano for another truck and I like the smaller form factor better. If they could shave off a bit of the size it'd make it more versatile. Other than that, plenty of power and sounds great.

I installed this on a 2025 Jeep Wrangler. Im still fine tuning the settings but so far I really like it. There are ZERO directions as to how to install it so I had to due a lot of youtube research and Forum research. Ultimately I succeeded and it is definitely worth installing. It adds a nice "fullness" of sound to my stereo and completes the overall system.

Must have for your convertible

I'm blown away. Everyone knows how hard it is to get good sound in a convertible. My Z was lacking in low end but I didn't want a trunk mounted array of equipment. Surprisingly, I see no feedback in here on using these in convertibles, so I was a little skeptical that it would make a difference. Thought at worst, at least I could feel the bass since it was small enough to fit under the seat. This blew me away! Granted, you won't shake the car next to you, but it produces all the low end you could want for the tiny price tag and footprint. Even top down, at highway speeds, it sounds great - much like a car with a high end OEM system in a hard top vehicle. In my opinion, if you have a convertible this is a MUST HAVE.

Great unit. Bad accesories.

Powerful little unit. More than enough sound and sounds great. My critique to Kicker would be this... the speaker line wires are way too short. Only 8 feet. Should be a minimum of 12 if not longer. They basically won't reach anything useful so you have provide additional. Come on guys wire is cheap. Also, the supplied ring terminals and butt connectors are the wrong size for the wire gauge. 14 gauge wire supplied and these are made for 12-10. They should also be heat shrinkable and weather sealed considering they are in the engine compartment.

Not so good

I had an issue literally just outside of the 1 yr order date on warranty. Kicker customer service was terrible. No exceptions. It's not when you received the unit your warranty starts but it's when you order it. Most reliable companies would cover and give a grace period if you are within a month or two. Not Kicker. Will be the last product I own from Kicker. This is not Crutchfield's fault. Just crummy customer service from Kicker. Hope this helps someone when making a decision.

I previously returned the Kicker 11HS8 which I give 1Star. Clutchfield send the Kicker 51HS8 to replace the 11HS8. This replacement was great. It is a great Sub - woofer. This sub woofer sounds excellent and add a Boom to the Low Frequency missing in the vehicle. Lovers of music will definitely enjoy the sound this KICKER 51HS8 Sub woofer produces. It fits any where in the vehicles because ti is small but gives big sound.

Ford Bronco Sub

Amazing! Put this in my Ford Bronco tonight in about 2.5 hrs. Easy peasy, and had everything expect wire splices for speaker wires. Takes me stock, cheap, tin sounding stereo to a new level!! Even without replacing the speakers. Customer service was clear, and had solid reason for referral. Even fit under the backseat so I lost 0 cargo space. Win-win!!

Waste of my time

I gotta say its weak, so weak I thought I did something wrong with the installation. I talked to Kicker support for over an hour with no improvement. I will have to shop for another. UPDATED 8/6/24: The 11HS8 is not weak. I discovered I wasn't getting enough volts from the subwoofer outputs from my brand new Sony head unit. So I tapped the high level signals from my amp and problem solved. The Kicker sub amp combo rocks now. I'm happy with it. I knew something had to be wrong. It's all good.

Punches above its weight, has been durable

Puts out way more bass and goes way lower than it should for its modest size. Has been running reliably for 6 years now. Installed in a 2007 Toyota Highlander to complement Polk DB series 6.5" speakers driven by a Pioneer head unit. (All purchased from Crutchfield except for the sub itself.) The system's mostly used for rock and alternative, and this thing really provides a lot of richness and low-end thump in that application without getting muddy. I've been installing my own car audio upgrades since the 90s, and this finished system really does sound fantastic without breaking the bank. I ended up mounting the sub upside-down to the bottom of the passenger seat, which worked out great because it's completely hidden, safe from any spills or rain intrusion, and VERY close to the listener. It also leaves the adjustment dials easy to access. Audio comes from the head unit's line-level sub output. Since the head unit handles crossover, I essentially bypassed the sub's LPF by turning it to the highest frequency. My only complaint is a minor one, which is that the power LED is at least 5x brighter than it needs to be. It's easy enough to slap a little piece of electrical tape over it, though.

Just what I needed for my truck

I installed the Kicker 11HS8 in my old Ford Ranger pickup truck. As the truck is a standard cab, I mounted it on the rear wall of the cab. The lack of space on the small shelf behind the seats dictated a small, compact unit rather than a "box". The customer reviews and the Crutchfield video were very helpful in my selection of this subwoofer. The descriptions of the unit providing a richer, deeper level of bass (rather than earthshaking) were spot-on. The installation took few hours with half the time required for removal of interior trim from the truck. The instructions did not indicate whether I could leave my existing rear speakers wired, or whether I needed to bypass them. A quick call to Customer Support answered my question (OK to leave my existing speakers connected). Overall, the installation was pretty easy. The Kicker sounds great. Not earth shaking, just as explained in the helpful Crutchfield video. It provides enough bass to give a fuller, deeper sound to my system. It can give a real good kick, depending on the recording, but I usually reduce that with the remote control. Very happy with the Kicker!

Short And Stout

Going from a 4 speaker (22W RMS) system in my compact car to a 4 speaker + this sub has been amazing. With the gain set to max on the sub and on my head unit, it sounds incredible to listen to and it really fills the cabin at the same volume levels as I had before the sub. Open box is a great way to save some money as our packaging box was dinged, but the actual product was in fantastic condition. Make sure you buy the KISL adapter for aftermarket head units with pre-amp outputs too. Installation was thankfully very simple and having the ability to reuse the same connection for the 46HS10 variant is super nice!

2019 Chevy Colorado Z71 Kicker Install

Installed the Kicker Hideaway Sub Woofer under the back seat of my 2019 Chevy Colorado Crew Cab. Overall installation was pretty straight forward, I did have to trim the plastic cover under the back seat to get the Kicker to Fit. Nice thump from a small box!

Perfect Hybrid addition

Owning a hybrid, one is very limited to the amperage loads you can add to your vehicle. I had a choice whether to add an amp to the 6 speaker system in my Toyota Venza or add a subwoofer. I chose the subwoofer route. Perfect choice and addition to the non amplified after market speakers I also added. No, it won't rattle your mirrors but it does fill in a very nice, true low end to make it a complete sound system. Highly recommend installing this self powered sub under the seats if possible, as I found room under the front passenger seat in my cuv. Only fault I found is the factory installation instructions for setting up the unit are terrible and wrong. Kicker needs to talk to some professional installers and rewrite their instructions.

Excellent Product!!

I was looking for something to fill out the audio system in my 1969 Chevy C10. I definitely found it with this Kicker Hideaway 11HS8!! These old trucks don't have a lot of room for speakers and the two 6.5" speakers up front, just didn't have any bass. This was the perfect compliment and really easy to install.

great investment

bought this for my 1997 regular cab K1500. it was a easy install and I mounted on my back wall behind the seats. it sounds really good for how small it it and on some songs is a little much. I love it though and when I really bass out it'll rattle all the windows, shake that back wall, I can't see the stuff on my mirrors sometimes because their rattling so much.

Works in my Mach-E with B&O sound.

Works beautifully in my 2021 Mach-E. Tie High level inputs in parallel using the B&O sub woofer output. I cheated and used the rear power point circuit for Power that circuit is fused at 20 amps plenty for the 10amp class D amp. I placed it under the removable shelf I still need to double check the gain with my scope, but that's for another weekend. The gain is at 25 to 30% of full travel and supplements the B&O sub beautifully. Don't get me wrong it's not going to move hair but it is now enough to feel it. Set your turn on to DC detect. Also if you tie to the Power Point circuit it is fed by a High current relay that is LIN controlled. IE amp is on Battery Saver Time Out.

Like it was made for Jeep JKUs!

This product is great. It is almost like it was designed to fit and work specifically for Jeep JKUs. Works great with an aftermarket and stock Jeep head units. I've installed one in both my wife's 2015 JKU with an aftermarket radio and my 2017 JKU with a stock radio sound is perfect both ways. Install is a little different for aftermarket as you'll need some adapters to connect to most aftermarket radio sub-outputs; it is recommended to know what type of output you have so you know what adapters you may need. I needed two adapters for my wife's Kenwood unit. Stock radio install is simple with only needing some wire connectors. If I had a single complaint about this system, it is that the ground cable is too short. There is a perfect ground lug in the Jeep JKU in the passenger footwell, but you'll need to add on some length of wire to get there. I did that on my wife's on mine; I just grounded mine to the seat bolt. The customer service for Crutchfield is OUTSTANDING! Hands down - best ever. Lost my wire reference for the stock head unit and was able to get it instantly via chat, and they answered all my pre-purchase questions both times. Their site is very user-friendly and makes the appropriate "you might need this" suggestions based on the system that you have.

Take this review with a grain of salt. Is it an okay subwoofer? Yeah, if you don't have subwoofers in any other vehicle to compare it to! But, I have a JL W7 in my car. I put this in my truck to save space. I will keep it because I've already installed it, but when it blows, I'll go a different route.

Great sound in a small package

I'll start by saying I did have a hard time wiring this thing. Having said that, I've also never wired a sub before, but I did it and it only took me about 5 hours. Keep in mind this includes running power to the battery, wiring and re-wiring speaker wire (because I did it wrong the first time), and finding a suitable location for the remote-on wire (which I found quite confusing). After all of that, and running to the hardware store for a Torx bit so I could ground it under my seat this thing as a great addition to my 2020 Camry. I upgraded the 6 speakers to Kickers before picking this up to get more low end. So far, I'm loving it - much more than I was expecting. I'm mostly a rocker and metal head, and was missing those awesome kick drum thumps. This delivers and then some. Under the drivers seat, I can feel every hit. A little nervous about the fail rate I keep hearing about, but for the price and no lost trunk space, even if I only get a couple years out of it I'll be happy.

Just what my stereo needed!

I bought this to fill in the lows that my speakers were lacking. It doesn't rattle the windows but it does complement the music well. Also the supplied wiring was sufficient to place the sub under the drivers seat and run the speaker wires to the head unit and the power wire all the way to the car's battery of a 2005 Lexus Rx330. Very satisfied with this purchase and my music now has the punch needed to have a full sound.

Bass without losing space

Nice way to add bass without losing trunk space. Doesn't rattle the car as much as you would expect when you hear 10" subwoofer, which is why people tend to frown on these, but it's a good product. Still has a good about of bass to it, and doesn't need a costly amp. One thing I will mention is there is an inaccuracy in the manual. It says that when the bass remote is connected the gain pot on the face of the unit is ignored. That is not correct, and especially if the unit is going to be hidden away you will want to set the gain to the max that you want the bass control remote knob to be at when it's set to max. Or in other words if it's set to zero you can crank the remote knob all the way up and you'll still have nothing coming out of the unit, so raise that gain up even though the manual says it's ignored when the remote is plugged in.

2020 Ford F150 XLT w/ Stock Radio

If your on the fence and pondering whether this Sub is worth it or not and would it really make that much of a difference, I have your answer. YES.... The stock system is OK but its just lacking and you know what I mean if your a F-150 owner. When I decided to pull the trigger I really thought I should get the 10" rather than the 8" but went with the 8". This sub was everything I was looking for to complete a full sound inside the cab. I wasn't looking to shake the windows, upset my neighbors, but rather achieve a full rich sound usually found with a higher end audio system that you pay through the teeth for when buying the vehicle. A few months ago I completed a speaker upgrade with a set of Rockford Fosgate (R165-S & R1675X2) and that alone was an improvement. Now after adding the Kicker Hideaway, its everything I was hoping for. I'm 62 yoa and decided to tackle the installation on my own. Had one slight hiccup and support tech walked me through some options that proved to be successful. My volume level is normally set at 15-18 and this sounds perfect once the fine tuning is completed. No regrets and glad I added the sub !!!

This is the third Kicker 11HS8 i've bought for as gifts for my daughter, my girlfriend, and my girlfriends daughter. They have all loved it. Its fit under their seats so they dont have a bass box in the trunk or in plain site. It puts out a good clean thump when the bass hits and is not overpowering. I recommend this sub to anyone who wants a heavy sound that is not to much, And the price is great with all the connections provided.

Stock system upgrade banger!

I bought one of these when I got my new Rav 4 just cause having no bass was horrible. I actually thought this thing kicked very well. I would say for a big open vehicle if you put it in the back, it can sound a little far. But it will still make you feel the bass. If you put it under your seat you will def feel it. If you have a STOCK system, this will be a massive upgrade I would 100% recommend you get one, easy to integrate. I paired mine with a little LOC and it made it even better. The sound it produces is nice sounding too, a nice clean tight bass. Listened to a lot of metal and it kept up very well. I since got a 11 inch spare tire sub but I took this and installed it in my roommates little Toyota Camry. In a small car it sounds much more full and makes you think that there is a larger sub in the car than there really is. It has such a small foot print that you can hide it really easy. If you are looking for an easy solution, and on a budget do consider this little guy, it is a great include into any system but I think its very beginner friendly and budget friendly.

Great speaker

The unit works exactly as advertised. It sounds great and works as advertised. I recommend going to kickers website to view better setup instructions, as I don't believe the provided instructions describe how the gain and bass remote interact very clearly. I wish it came with just a little bit more speaker wire, as I had to order some separately for my pretty basic install under my passenger seat.

Installed this into a 1997 Chevy regular cab truck. Install was very simple and easy. The sound this speaker/amp combo puts out is amazing. The bass knob you can install on the dash is perfect to quickly and easily adjust the bass per song. Would highly recommend this speaker/amp combo. We installed on the back wall of the cab behind the bench seat.

WOW

Put this in a 2023 Trailboss without the Bose. I'm am purely amazed at how well it improved the overall sound. I half assumed I would return it, being that it couldn't provide much sound being so small. I was wrong. I will likely buy another for my wife's Cx9. Fairly easy install too. Only struggle I had was figuring out which wires to tap into. But that isn't much of a complaint really.

Bronco sound quality

Installed in 2021 Bronco 4 door. Finally got the sound I was looking for. All kicker speakers and now a powered subwoofer for some bass.

Has unfortunately been nothing but a headache, It has been going into circuit overload protection mode like it has more volts than allowed. I've put my multimeter up to the included connector and it is getting 12-13. I've tried calling tech support and they haven't been able to fix it either.

I just love this item. Great bass, nice controls to adjust what you like. Very nice install. Kicker makes some very good products. Been using them since the 80's Replaced all of my speakers in my 2014 Dodge Charger R/T---If you want better sound out of your Alpine premium system...This is pretty awesome setup. I kept my uConnect/because I do like it. This has been the best upgrade in a few years I have done. Just remember...To do this install correctly in this vehicle...it took 22 hours of total time to complete...CORRECTLY! Crutchfield...you are the BOOM in my life. Regards, Mr. Temple

Great compliment to a headunit and speaker upgrade.

Outstanding small subwoofer. It fit under the rear seat of my 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD with a minor modification to the rear seat height (3 washers). The sound is perfect for my upgraded system. It adds that right amount of depth to my tunes. It's not a window rattler but it compliments the upgraded speakers and head unit perfectly.

Great Powered Sub; Needs Improved Cabling

Love my new Kicker 11HS8 powered sub. It really complements my Kicker speakers and Kenwood very well and fills out the sound of my 2010 Toyota Tundra extended cab. Great features, low profile. Installed it under the back seat of my extended cab Toyota Tundra. Wanted to use the straps, but ended up using the mounting brackets instead. I need to spend some time tuning in the settings; but love the remote control. I mounted it right near the console gear shift so I can easily change the sound as needed. The only complaint I have is the wiring provided by Kicker. The power wire is long enough to get to the battery, but the speaker wires and power control wire aren't long enough to get to the head unit. I had to splice in additional wiring to get it to the head unit. The only installation issues I had that weren't specifically just challenges that come along with car audio installation was that the sub wouldn't come on for a while. Evidently I didn't have a good ground established to the chassis of the vehicle and wasn't getting a full 12V+ between + and - terminals of the unit. Once I established a better ground to the chassis this was quickly resolved. Overall a great purchase and looking forward to many miles of enjoyment!

Just the extra bass I was wanting!

Installed this in my 2016 jeep wrangler under the front passenger seat. A little tight but fits perfectly. So happy with how it helped the system sound. I needed that extra thump.

I mounted this under the back seat of my 2005 Jeep Wrangler LJ. I routed the wires through the center console back to the receiver. It gives a much needed boost in bass but nothing over the top.

Exceeded my expectations for the money, size and power rating. If you're looking for a compact sub that produces accurate lows this is a great option. Don't get this expecting it to hit like a pair of W6's running 1000w rms. However, if you want a nice accurate low end in a compact and affordable package this is a perfect sub.

Easy to install, added just enough bass to be enjoyable

Did what was needed. This did not add "thumping" bass, but rather quality sound. Just makes for a fuller sounding system. Will not rattle your brains so don't get your hopes up. Easy to install with the hardest part finding a spot to run the power wire through the firewall on my truck.
