Excellent Atmos Performance and Flexibility
Arturo from Gainesville, GA on 4/21/2025
As part of my home theater build, I decided to go with four Klipsch CDT-5650-C II speakers for my Atmos overhead channels-and I'm glad I did. Since I was constructing the room from the ground up, I had the advantage of reinforcing and bracing the install locations, which really helped optimize their performance. Right out of the gate, these speakers sound fantastic. One of the standout features is their ability to tilt and pivot, which allowed me to aim them precisely where I needed for the best immersive effect. That flexibility makes a huge difference when it comes to fine-tuning the Atmos experience. The bass and overall volume from these in-ceiling speakers is genuinely impressive-especially for their size and form factor. They deliver a rich, full sound that blends in perfectly with the rest of my system, even before any calibration. I've got some final tuning to do with my AVR, but I'm already confident they'll sound even better once everything is dialed in. Overall, the CDT-5650-C II speakers are a smart choice for anyone looking to add high-quality Atmos channels to a home theater. Great sound, versatile design, and a premium feel that lives up to Klipsch's reputation.
Pros: Price Sound Quality Placement Flexibility

Beautiful Sound
Don from MORGANTOWN, PA on 2/4/2025
I purchased some of these Klipsch CDT-5650-C II Speakers, installing them in my unfinished basement, and adding them to my Whole Home Sound System and they sound excellent! Crisp and Clear Highs and Lows with great Bass as well, having installed the speakers inside the Klipsch (Model ME-650-C) Metal Speaker Enclosure Units! Klipsch Engineers designed some sophisticated and slick babies here, with tilting cones allowing sound to be positioned where most advantageous and the magnetic Speaker Covers are a bonus as well! Have other Klipsch Speakers incorporated in my Whole Home Sound System and really Love their products and the beautiful sound they provide at a very nice price point.
Pros: Great Sound! Easy to install with 4-Locking (Loosening/Tightening) Plastic and Screw Tabs. Smart, Convenient Cone Sound Positioning. Easy Snap on/off Magnetic Speaker Covers. Price is Very Good for the Quality of These Speakers.
Cons: None

Great Home Theater Speakers
Nick from Sylvester, GA on 4/26/2024
These speakers are great. I recently added them to a home theater setup. The Install was pretty straight forward with minimal tools and the sound quality is exceptional. They have a greyish appearance against a white ceiling due to the dark colored speaker underneath the cover, so they don't blend in seamlessly with a white ceiling but they still look great (My wife had not complaints). I will likely be picking up a couple more in the near future.
Pros: Price Sound Quality Installation

Good Atmos speakers
Travis from Johnson City, TN on 4/17/2024
Mounted these using 1/2 inch plywood behind drop tile ceiling. The sound is sufficient for Atmos effects. The speakers are surprisingly efficient, which helps balance then with all the 4 ohm speakers in the room. Audyssey crossed them at 100Hz, and that works for this application. The high end rolls off, at my listening position, around 10k, but again that's works for this application. I'm pleased overall, and am enjoying 7.2.2 sound.

I love these speakers. They look great installed and work great as Atmos speakers. My only complaint is there's very little room for error when cutting the hole in the ceiling. I'd highly recommend using an adjustable hole saw.

Own a pair of the 5800 for a 5.1 surround which have been happy with. Using these 5650's as part of a multi zone audio. These don't have quite the lows of the 5800, but very nice for whole home audio.

Used these speakers to replace mye 20 year old Polk surround sound speakers. They fit exactly in the origninal ceiling cutouts and preform great with my Klipsch speakers. I was able to read the reviews before purchased and many people stated they were a perfect fit if you have Klipsch speakers and they were right.

Henry from Boca Raton, FL on 7/19/2023
Two of these were installed in our Living-Dining room 15' ceiling. They function well, but their sound quality , while excellent, is quite "bright". The only real negative is that since they are painted black, even with the white magnetic covers, they don't fully blend into a white ceiling. They look a light gray, which I don't mind, but which drives my wife crazy, as they were advertised as "disappearing " into a white ceiling. Why not just paint the inside white unless that would effect sound quality? I rate them 8/10, my wife about 2/10, for an avg. of 6/10, mainly based on appearance.
Pros: Bright sound, if you like that.
Cons: Appearance in a white ceiling.

Good Surrounds in an open plan
Tyler from Panama City, FL on 1/16/2019
Using these as surrounds in a 5.1 setup in an open floor plan. Speakers sound clear and crisp. Haven't really pushed them since they are only surrounds but they complement the rest of my system quite well. Installation took < 1 hour once the locations of the holes were measured and speaker wire run. The only ding was the price but I wanted something that would complement my existing Klipsch fronts/sub.
Pros: Great Sound, Easy installation, attractive slim cover/grill
Cons: price

Perfect Choice for Ceiling Audio
Terry from Grand Blanc, MI on 2/25/2018
I am very pleased with these speakers. I added them to my home theater to create the Dolby Atmos and DTS-X sound. They were easy to install. The magnetic grill comes colored white which was perfect for my ceiling tiles. They can be painted. When I ran the Audyssey® Setup function on my Marantz SR7012 everything worked out splendidly. They work well with my Bose Acoustimass 10 surround. I may add two more in the future. I definitely recommend this speaker for above listener/viewer sound.
Pros: 1.Great sound! 2.Easy installation! 3.They look awesome!

Great speakers
Arnie from Texas on 1/11/2016
I bought two pair of these. One in my living room for rear surround and one for my office. First off the installation was super simple. There was a nice cardboard template to mark the hole in the ceiling. Connecting the wire was simple and secure. But the best part was mounting it. A 1/4 turn of four screws and it was secure to let go with both hands, then it was just a matter of tightening them. I've never really don't something like this before, but I installed both pairs, including running wire and doing the drops (and cleanup) in about 6 hours. So far I'm very happy, but I've only had them up for two days.
Pros: Ease of installation.
