Morel speaker installation for a BMW 4 Series
Stealthy upgrade for a weekend cruiser
A 2015 BMW 4 series gets a hidden speaker upgrade. Morel's BMW specific Integration Performance speakers drop in and provide a big audio quality improvement.
Mark spends his week helping Crutchfield’s business and education customers find what they need. When he’s ready to cruise around and relax on the weekend, he takes out his 2015 BMW 4 Series convertible. He loves the car, but felt the audio was lacking, so he decided to give it a custom-designed sound-quality boost.
The Morel Integration Performance speakers needed for Mark's BMW
Morel's BMW drop-in speakers were the easy choice
Morel makes excellent car audio gear, but did you know they also make direct factory-replacement speakers for some BMWs? Their Integration Performance speakers mount directly into a BMW’s factory locations, using the same screws and plugging into the existing wire harnesses. Their component tweeters even pop right into the factory sail panels (the little corner pieces next to the windows above the door panels).
Not only do these speakers install into factory locations easily, they also provide quite an audio upgrade. Morel built them to sound excellent powered by the BMW’s amplifier, so you can expect greater detail and improved bass response from their high-quality woofer and tweeter materials. And the best part is, no one will know they’re installed until you turn the volume up.

Two under-seat subs
Mark’s BMW has two very thin and uniquely shaped 8" subwoofers under the front seats, which provide low end and fill out the system. Normal 8" subs don’t stand a chance of fitting, but Morel’s IP-BMWSUB82 subs drop perfectly into the constrained spaces. You do have to unbolt the front seats to tilt them out of the way, but once you do, it’s pretty straightforward to unscrew the factory subs and disconnect their harnesses. The Morel subs use the factory screws, plug into the factory harnesses, and have the same 2-ohm impedance as the factory subs, so they’ll pull as much power from the factory amp as the original ones.

Full-range speakers all around
The BMW also has midrange speakers in the front doors, tweeters in the sail panels, and full-range speakers right next to the rear seats. Morel has all of these locations covered with their IP-BMW42 4" component kit for the front, and the IP-BMW4C set for the rear.
You have to do a bit of disassembly to get at these speakers, namely, removing the door panels and the rear-seat side panels. Morel helps with this effort by including a set of custom panel tools with each speaker package. Once apart, the tweeters pop into the sail panels, and the speakers fit right into the front and rear locations, using the factory screws and harnesses, just like the subs.

The results: much improved sound quality
After a full day of work, Mark was excited to fire up the sound system up and test it out. He loved hearing the better clarity of the Morel speakers, which let him notice more detail in his music. The bass was also punchier and more defined. He’s looking forward to plenty of weekend drives where he can enjoy it even more.
